Life rushes through the kaleidoscopic lens of his camera, yearning to be captured into timeless images.
He is Runjiv Kapur, international photographer, ace film maker and director.
Born in Srinagar, India, into a legendary family of pioneers in the field of photography, Runjiv grew up with a lens in his hand and a dream in his heart.
The regular life story of graduating from a formal education and landing a routine 9 to 5 job held no fascination for him. His soul was consumed by one single mantra – films!!
Armed with a degree in business administration, Runjiv took a roundabout in career choices and plunged headlong into film making under the tutelage of film veterans in Mumbai such as Mahesh Bhatt and Asit Sen.

With an eye for the aesthetic, a hobby turned into a full fledged profession. Combined with his expertise in film making, the creative genius of Runjiv was converted into a lifetime vocation as he set up an advertising business in India and, over the past decade, in Tanzania.
Heading his company Performance Limited, he began taking great strides as he covered uncharted territory in the then nascent map of advertising in the developing world.
Tanzania became home and business grew for this advertising visionary as he added to his list of clientele more than 120 companies!!
Runjiv became the favoured choice of NGOs such as UNICEF, UNDP, UNHCR. ILO and various other social organisations who sought his skills and ability to produce compelling films based on true human stories, depicting the reality of human suffering on our planet.
Over and above the repertoire of Tanzanian television serials, music videos, print advertising, billboard advertising and television commercials that he has to his credit, his claim to fame includes a colourful and captivating coffee table book titled “Bazaars Down Under”.
The book is the outcome of an invitation from the Australian Tourism Ministry to encapsulate the sights and sounds of Australia. As one thumbs through the leaves of this book, one finds oneself embarking on a visual journey of Australia. A treasure trove of photos, this book is a collector’s must!
An ever-willing student, Runjiv’s goal towards excellence led him to imbibe greater knowledge as he attended a photography institute at Maine, USA. Believing in the truth that success is a moving target, he is always endeavouring to raise his own bar and climb a notch higher in his own eyes. His standard for perfection is ever-rising.
Wife, daughter and films are the three members of his family that keep him buoyant and afloat in his ever-widening ocean of creativity.
He has sowed his heart in Tanzania and looks forward to reaping a rich harvest of hearts beating for a one–of–its-kind indigenous film industry within Tanzania that would bring to fore the vibrant spirit of Africa.
For far too long, Tanzania has depended on importing film making expertise. He is convinced that it is time now for Tanzania to come into its own and establish a film industry that would showcase the talent of its own people and generate employment for thousands.
Enlarging upon this vision, Runjiv has invested in educating young Tanzanians in the art of film making and hopes that this passion will catch on and place Tanzania on the international film map, luring film units from across the globe to set base in this paradise on earth, called Tanzania. Just like he has.
